Fabulous Fabiana

One of my best friends from college, Fabiana Ochoa, has been a fashion inspiration to me since I met her in 2004 in Santa Cruz, CA. She now resides in San Francisco and I in CT, so roaming through her closet is no longer a weekly happening. However, I was able to enjoy one of her magical creations when she was spotted in another adorably fabulous outfit at a Refinery 29 party.

P.S. Fabi, you rubbed off on me, I have the same shoes. XO!

Check out the rest of the party goers here.

Cole Haan Spring 2012

The other day I was wondering around NYC and ended up in Cole Haan.  The line is so fun and vibrant I couldn't resist snapping a few.

Hope you enjoyed them as much as I do!

Consignment Culture

This past weekend one of my best friends finally came out to visit me in Darien, CT-- a suburb of New York City.  After a night of wine and pizza we went for a short bike ride around the beach communities of Rowayton before heading to Double Exposure Consignment.  I have been a handful of times but always forget the remarkable collection they have, it is truly unbelievable. If you live within two hours it's well worth the rush you get when discovering a DVF dress with its original $598 tag on it going for a mere $68.  Or when you find a pair of white linen Theory shorts ($170 originally) for the whopping sum of $30 bucks! The list goes on...

I found this silk tunic by Velvet for $30!

Love this knitted top by 12 Little West 12th Street. The open back is killer! Does anyone know if they are still in business? I can't find them on line, guess I'll have to wonder over to the West Village, shucks.

The best part about rediscovering Double Exposure, I know my best friend will be back for a visit and hopefully her sister will come too!

What's your favorite consignment store?

Oscar Obsessions

With the biggest red carpet moment of the season often comes the biggest fashion mistakes of the season.  Last night, however, remained fabulously chic and surprisingly understated. Shades of whites and nudes dominated the carpet while bursts of vibrant reds and stunning blacks mixed it up a bit.

Gwenyth stunned in this classic Tom Ford

Meryl and Jessica were simply golden in Lanvin and Alexander McQueen!

I never thought that I would say this, but Michelle's peplum is perfection! This Louis Vitton number was the perfect choice for the adorable Williams.

The ever gorgeous Penelope Cruz radiated regency in custom Giorgio Armani.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji, Kate Mara in Jack Guisso Couture and Shailene Woodley in Valentino Haute Couture.

Who do you think rocked the red carpet?

Persimmon Perfection

The colors in this photo are getting me fired up for spring (although persimmons are a fall fruit).  I have recently learned the best way to eat a persimmon and thought I'd share with you...first freeze your ripe persimmon for at least an hour and then run it under warm water.  Using your fingers roll the skin off.  Try to peel the skin as quickly as possible in order to keep the fruit cold.  When persimmons are eaten warm and unripe they leave a fuzzy/chalky feeling in your mouth, which is just plain weird!

Blue Button Down Bliss

The button down has never been a staple in my closet, until now.  I can't seam to leave a store without one, or two! Here are a few of my favorites...

If you don't already have one a Chambray button down is perfect for just about any outing.  This one is from the L.O.G.G (Label of Graded Goods) line at H&M.  I also love the funky detail on this one from Urban Outfitters.

I love the print on this Theory consignment store find.  Up close there are flowers hidden in the blue, perfect for this springs floral mania! The salmon scarf was a gift from Orvis, go figure!

Last but certainly not least, this Elizabeth and James stripped button down is a classic. The cut is more than flattering and the button detail on the back is perfection!

Toss a black leather jacket over any of these looks and your set (oh yea, don't forget your pants)!
